247 MIGRANTS RESCUED NEAR CANARY ISLANDS

MADRID, AUGUST 21 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Spanish rescue teams have found and evacuated 247 migrants who were sailing without documents in rubber boats near the Canary Islands, the Maghreb Times news portal reported.

The report states that the migrants are citizens of several African countries, including Morocco.

One of the boats was carrying 111 migrants, and the vessel was spotted about 115 kilometers from the city of Arrecife, the administrative center of the Spanish island of Lanzarote.

The rescue ship was sent by the Center for Coordination of Maritime Rescue Operations in Las Palmas.
