BELGRADE, JUNE 15 /SRNA/ - The men’s Serbian sitting volleyball national team, which includes six players from Republika Srpska and one from the Federation of BiH, has won the Silver Nations League tournament in Nantes, securing a return to the Golden League.
Head coach of Serbia, Mladen Stević from Lopare, told SRNA that he is proud of his players, who achieved five wins in Nantes against the national teams of the Czech Republic, Latvia, the Netherlands, Turkey, and host France.
“I am proud of my players for their commitment, as well as their excellent play in the decisive moments against the Netherlands, because we were trailing 2–0 in sets, but we managed to turn the match around and win,” Stević said at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport upon arrival from Nantes.
He said that in that match, they showed great determination, fighting spirit, and character.
“In the final match of the tournament, we defeated host France 3–0 in front of a full arena, which is another proof of our character and perseverance,” Stević said.
The team will now take a break until autumn, when preparations for the European Championship, scheduled for next year, will begin.
“I look forward to every appearance and every victory accompanied by the anthem ‘Bože pravde’ and under the national flag. Wherever we live, we carry Serbia in our hearts,” Stević said.
