LISBON, OCTOBER 19 /SRNA/ – Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for one month and fined €225 for leaving Portugal's training camp in Denmark.

Ronaldo left the Portuguese national team's base in Copenhagen ahead of the Nations League match against Denmark, which was played earlier this month.

He accused Portugal coach Jorge Jesus of breaking promises about his role in the team on two occasions after he was left on the bench against Norway.

Jesus denied that any agreement with Ronaldo had been in place.

The disciplinary committee found that Ronaldo had deliberately committed the offense. Proceedings were initiated on October 9, based on information reported two days earlier, Reuters reported.

It was not specified which matches or activities the suspension covers, or whether time already served under a provisional suspension will count toward the 30-day ban.

Ronaldo later apologized for failing to acknowledge the fans after the match against Norway and for leaving his teammates.

He said he remained available to play for the national team once he had served the punishment imposed over the incident.

Portuguese Football Federation President Pedro Proença said everyone at the federation wanted Ronaldo to return to the national team once the situation had been resolved.
