BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ - NATO committed the biggest crime in this region since the Second World War by bombing Republika Srpska in 1995, a crime bearing all the hallmarks of genocide whose consequences will be felt for hundreds of years, President of the Organization of Senior Officers of the Army of Republika Srpska /VRS/ Slobodan Župljanin told SRNA.
"Courts in this world have never prosecuted the perpetrators of this crime, which bears all the hallmarks of genocide, but there is no doubt that God’s hand of justice will catch up with them," Župljanin said.
He said that the Serb people must never forget the victims of the NATO bombing of Republika Srpska.
"Even after the bombing ended, the deaths of a large number of people, primarily Serbs, continued as a consequence of the use of depleted uranium ammunition," Župljanin said on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the NATO Bombing in Republika Srpska.
He assessed that this day simultaneously evokes both sorrow and pride among the Serb people in Republika Srpska.
"Sorrow because innocent civilian and military victims were killed, and pride because, despite all the casualties, the Serb people and the VRS preserved Republika Srpska and brought freedom to the Serbs," Župljanin stressed.
The Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the NATO Bombing in Republika Srpska will be marked in Istočno Sarajevo tomorrow. More than 50 members of the Army of Republika Srpska and civilians were killed during the bombing, while more than 120 were wounded.
