JAHORINA, DECEMBER 2 /SRNA/ - The winter tourist season officially began today on Mount Jahorina, featuring numerous attractions and a diverse entertainment program.

The start of the season was marked by a descent down the Poljice slope by about fifteen members of the Jahorina Ski Club.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Jahorina Olympic Center Nedeljko Elek emphasized that skiing is free of charge today and invited everyone to come and see what has been done so far.

"Everyone who wants to experience the true atmosphere, enjoy excellent slopes, top-quality service, and food is welcome on Jahorina. I hope it will be a good season and that we will spend the next four months enjoying the charms of Jahorina," Elek said at a press conference.

He noted that the 50 percent discount on ski passes is still in effect, and thanked the Center's employees in all sectors for their efforts in preparing the slopes, as well as for their work in promoting this tourist destination.

Elek says that tonight is "Jahorina Night" in Sarajevo, and that this Olympic beauty is open to all people of goodwill.

He pointed out that artificial snowmaking is extremely important for Jahorina, and that it has been made possible thanks to investments by the Government of Republika Srpska.

Pale Mayor Dejan Kojić said that the management of the Olympic Center had worked hard to ensure good skiing conditions and expressed his confidence that they would continue to give their best throughout the rest of the season.

The Mayor of Trnovo Miroslav Bjelica said that the opening of the Jahorina ski resort is the most important event for the Olympic Center, but also for the local community.

The coach of the Jahorina Ski Club Vlado Lučić said they were pleased that the Olympic Center had managed to provide conditions for skiing, and that the club's members would train there because the conditions are excellent.

"Until now, we trained in Austria and had planned to go again, but thanks to the good conditions on Jahorina, we won't. We'll train here as we prepare for the next skiing season and for international competitions," Lučić said.
