TREBINJE, MAY 2 /SRNA/ - The third “Wine Fine” festival was opened tonight in Trebinje, bringing together more than 60 exhibitors from Trebinje, Herzegovina, and the wider region.
Anđelka Kuzmić, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of Republika Srpska, stated that 3.2 million liters of wine are produced annually in Republika Srpska, which reflects the government’s support for the sector.
She said that Trebinje and Herzegovina are the centre of wine production in Republika Srpska and that the sector continues to develop.
“We currently have 600 hectares under vineyards and 44 registered wineries," said Kuzmić, announcing further support from the relevant ministry for winemakers.
Trebinje Mayor Mirko Ćurić said that this year’s festival has the highest number of exhibitors so far, adding that efforts will be made to increase that number in the future.
“Thank you to all our friends, the relevant ministry that has supported us all these years, as well as the Provincial Government of Vojvodina. This is a clear message that we cannot do without each other, and that together we have something to present in Trebinje, Herzegovina, and Republika Srpska," Ćurić said.
Nenad Ivanišević, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism of Vojvodina, stated that they are present there based on an agreement signed between the “Fruška Gora” Association of Winemakers and Vineyard Growers and winemakers from Herzegovina.
“All activities we carry out in the territory of Vojvodina, and beyond, we do together with Trebinje and other municipalities in Herzegovina. The idea is to appear jointly at the upcoming Agriculture Fair and Tourism Fair in Novi Sad, as well as at all other events,” Ivanišević said.
He emphasized excellent cooperation with Trebinje, noting that this event has a special spirit and that everyone who comes to the city feels at home.
Director of the Trebinje Tourism Organization Jovica Milošević said that the festival is an ideal opportunity for local producers of wine, spirits, and food to present their best products.
“We have a large number of guests from outside. Exhibitor places were filled in record time. That shows we are on the right path,” said Milošević.
One of the exhibitors, Igor Dabić, representative of the Dabić Winery from Trebinje, said that the festival is getting better each year, noting that last year nature provided good quality grapes and wine, and that every form of promotion like this is very important.
The representative of the Bada Winery from Aleksandrovac, Miroslav Jovanović, said they are attending the festival for the first time, where they are presenting, among other products, their Tamjanika wine, and that they produce around 10,000 liters annually.
