DUGA NJIVA, JUNE 21 /SRNA/ – Serbia’s State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, Nikola Vukelić, has said today at Duga Njiva that the events preceding the Corridor Breakthrough demonstrated what kind of fate had been intended for the Serb people in this region.
“The Serb people here was not even allowed the right to air; then it became clear what fate had been planned for them - to complete what had not been finished during the Second World War, namely that there should be no Serbs left in these areas,” Vukelić stressed during the marking the 34th anniversary of the Corridor Breakthrough.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska was preserved thanks to the experience and sacrifice of the Serb people and the leadership of that time.
“The Serb people fought with a great difficulty for a piece of freedom,” Vukelić added.
He nited that, since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, efforts had been made to weaken Republika Srpska, adding that this process reached its peak last year with the court ruling against Milorad Dodik as Srpska President.
“The leadership and the Serb people have shown how much they love this land, Republika Srpska will endure,” Vukelić said.
He stressed that Serbia has embraced Republika Srpska and that together they are a guarantee that, one day, part of the historical injustices committed against the Serb people will be corrected.
“Sometimes patience is necessary to achieve the goal, the goal is freedom and unity between Republika Srpska and Serbia,” Vukelić said, noting that he came from Republika Srpska Krajina, whose soldiers also participated in the Corridor Breakthrough operation.
