"VIŠEGRAD KORZO" GATHERS NUMEROUS VISITORS

VIŠEGRAD, MAY 23 /SRNA/ - With an exhibition of stands featuring domestic products, handmade crafts, food, and drinks, the "Višegrad Korzo" began today on the main street in Višegrad, an event aimed at promoting the summer tourist season and the potential of the city on the Drina River.

More than 20 exhibitors from Višegrad and the region presented a rich selection of domestic specialties, souvenirs, traditional products, and handicrafts, while numerous tourists and citizens visited the stands and enjoyed the musical program that further complemented the atmosphere in the city center.

"Višegrad Korzo" is the central event of this year's season opening, but also an introduction to numerous events that will be organized during the summer, including the "Bean Festival" /Pasuljijada/, the "Višegrad Regatta", "Jumps from the Bridge", and cultural programs dedicated to Ivo Andrić.

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, the Mayor of Višegrad municipality, Mladen Đurević, as well as numerous guests and visitors who supported the start of this year's tourist season, strolled along the Višegrad promenade today.

Košarac said that Višegrad has a clear vision of local development in which tourism represents one of the key segments.

"Višegrad, with all its potentials, from the bridge and Andrićgrad to the Drina River and medieval religious sites, is highly positioned on the tourist map of Republika Srpska and the region. This is a destination that must not be bypassed," emphasized Košarac.

Đurević emphasized that the "Višegrad Korzo" represents an important step toward further improving the city's tourist offer.

"The goal of this project is to increase the number of tourists, raise the quality of the tourist offer, and further affirm Višegrad as one of the most significant tourist destinations in Republika Srpska. We are grateful to Minister Košarac for his support, as well as to all the partners who helped organize this event," said Đurević.

The Director of the Tourist Organization of Višegrad, Jadranko Janjić, said that expectations for this year's season are high, and that current indicators show that about 80% of the accommodation capacity in the city is already filled, which heralds a record number of visits.

The program for the opening of the summer tourist season continues into the evening hours, and the crown of today will be a concert by Nikola Rokvić at 9:00 PM at the stadium in Andrićgrad.

The summer tourist season in Višegrad officially opened last night with the screening of a promotional tourist film about the city on the Drina, and the event continues tomorrow with numerous activities.

The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, the Municipality of Višegrad, the Tourist Organization of Višegrad, and "Hidroelektrane na Drini" /Hydroelectric Power Plants on the Drina.
