SOKOLAC, MAY 31 /SRNA/ - Serbian writer Veselin Dželetović from Belgrade was presented today in the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Sokolac with the literary award "Trojčidansko-vidovdanska povelja" for his overall literary work gifted to the Serbian people.
Dželetović told journalists that it is a great honor for him to receive this charter from his brothers and sisters from Republika Srpska.
"I come to Republika Srpska to breathe in the Serbian spirit, and I adore the people here who have acquired through struggle what they know how to value and respect, unlike many in Serbia who accept some other values," emphasized Dželetović.
He stated that he is very happy because he also received a charter yesterday in Nikšić, noting that these awards unite the purpose of his work in all Serbian lands, which is to convey the truth about the suffering of the Serbian people.
The jury of the Association for Informational and Cultural Activity "Sveti Sava" from Istočno Sarajevo, which awarded the prize to Dželetović, stated that through his overall literary, journalistic, and humanitarian work, he has written the most poignant and important pages of contemporary Serbian literature.
The "Sveti Sava" Association reminds that Dželetović's novel "The Serbian Heart of Johan" has become a planetary cry and an insurmountable literary fortress of truth about the suffering of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
The novel "The Serbian Heart of Johan" testifies to the painful truth about human organ trafficking in Kosovo and Metohija during 1998 and 1999, about the suffering of the Serbian martyr Jovan in the "Yellow House," and about the power of forgiveness and eternity that pours into life through a donated heart.
This work also had its film adaptation in the movie "Harvest", which became a permanent testimony of that time.
