STEVANOVIĆ: HARMFUL DECISION ON SANCTIONS, SLOVENIAN SOCIETY ALREADY SUFFERS BECAUSE OF CURRENT POLICIES

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – The President of the Resni.ca party from Slovenia Zoran Stevanović told SRNA that the decision to impose sanctions on the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik is harmful, adding that in this case the Government of Slovenia is acting rather like an external administration of Brussels than as an independent and sovereign authority, which most often proves to be to the detriment of the state.

“The decision to ban entry to the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik brings nothing good – neither to Slovenia, nor to BiH, nor to Republika Srpska. On the contrary, it only increases tensions, fuels hostility, and further deepens the polarization of the public. And Slovenian society already suffers enough because of an incompetent politics that survives solely on artificially created divisions,” Stevanović said.

He stressed that the decision to impose sanctions does not lead to dialogue and problem-solving, but rather to separation and greater mistrust among nations.

“In Slovenia we already have more than enough of our own problems that we are not solving, so it is completely wrong to further burden relations in the region with moves that make no real sense and do not contribute to peace,” Stevanović emphasized.

He pointed out that the Resni.ca party has always clearly maintained the position that Slovenia should not interfere in the internal political processes of other states.

“We believe that the fundamental interest of our country is to remain neutral in diplomatic and military disputes, to build bridges among nations, not walls,” Stevanović concluded.

The Government of Slovenia imposed sanctions on the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, which include a ban on entering the country.

Following that decision, the Government of Republika Srpska introduced reciprocal measures and banned the entry of Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon into Republika Srpska.
