BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – The Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated that Republika Srpska and Serbia, through the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, demonstrate their determination to remain together, relying on each other.
“With this significant holiday, we send a message to all those who think they can subjugate the Serb people or inflict harm on them that cannot be undone,” Stevandić told reporters in Banja Luka.
He said that in the spirit of this holiday, today’s commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the formation of the Second Krajina Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army also reflects the need for Serbian unity.
Stevandić reminded that on September 17 and 18, the fall session of the Parliamentary Forum Serbia–Republika Srpska will be held in Banja Luka, noting that for the first time there will be guests from other parliaments.
“The observance of the Day of Serbian Unity will conclude with a joint session of the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia, scheduled for September 19, followed by a military parade on September 20,” Stevandić emphasized.
Commenting on the decision of the incomplete Constitutional Court to suspend the conclusions of the National Assembly regarding the call for authorities not to participate in early elections, Stevandić stressed that no court can forbid citizens from declaring that they do not consent to something, and that this is not a matter of punishability.
“Even more interesting is that they did not suspend the conclusion in which the National Assembly rejects colonial administration, does not recognize Christian Schmidt and his decisions, nor the ruling of the illegal BiH Court imposed on the President of Republika Srpska, or the subsequent decision of the CEC,” Stevandić said.
He noted that it is unclear whether this action was done hastily or represents a new political collapse affecting the Constitutional Court of BiH.
“I believe the points they have legitimized are far more important. As for the others, we will see the position of our people,” Stevandić said.
