BELGRADE, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska has become a trusted partner of the administration of US President Donald Trump, said Borko Komnenović, a prominent member of the Republican Party in the United States.

"Republika Srpska has already built a serious image as a trusted partner of the Trump administration," Komnenović told Politika.

He stated that the Republika Srpska lobby is currently the most visible in the United States and that, with such results and the visibility of its positions in Washington, it has the opportunity to achieve even more and favourably resolve issues such as the work of the anti-Dayton Constitutional Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office, entity property, taxes, and similar matters.

He pointed to the excellent organisation that Republika Srpska has built in Washington since the early 2000s, adding that such efforts by Banja Luka are finding fertile ground in today's political setup in Washington.

"The efforts of Banja Luka and the long and patient work of the Republika Srpska leadership are finally yielding tangible results. We can all see that the leadership of Srpska has managed to remove the sanctions imposed by previous administrations, while the influence of the imposed high representative has been almost completely neutralized and marginalized," he stressed.

Komnenović added that what benefits Serbia and Srpska the most is that Trump's Iran policy shows that the days of NATO, as it has been known, are practically numbered and that the alliance will have to reform or cease to exist, since the United States pays a large share of Europe’s defence costs.

He assessed that Belgrade and Banja Luka should work as much as possible in a systematic way to ensure that their voice is heard in Washington.

He pointed out that Serbia is no longer under constant pressure from U.S. administrations, although the Albanian lobby is making grand effort, with substantial financial incentives, to promote the false state of Kosovo, but that awareness is growing in Washington that small, financially unsustainable states have no future.
