TREBINJE, JUNE 9 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska's geopolitical position is undoubtedly favorable today, as it maintains good relations with the new US administration, the Russian Federation and China, SNSD President Milorad Dodik has stated.
"Of course, you can never have everything exactly as you would like. We have good relations with the new US administration, excellent strategic relations with the Russian Federation and we are building strong ties with China", Dodik told reporters ahead of the panel discussion "The Geostrategic Position of Srpska" in Trebinje.
He added that there are difficulties in relations with the Brussels administration, describing it as the worst Brussels administration ever and suggesting that Republika Srpska would be best served by waiting for new leadership.
"Our strategic interest is the European Union, but not at any cost. We do not want to be part of a Europe in which we have no voice, where we serve merely as logistical support for new military structures or simply implement decisions without being consulted. That would be a humiliation", Dodik pointed out.
According to him, Republika Srpska is seeking to avoid being drawn into geopolitical disputes, noting that the main current confrontation is between the EU and Russia.
Dodik argued that the EU is waging a war against Russia through Ukraine, pointing to the billions of euros allocated to Kyiv, and added that the Union is increasingly transforming from a political organization into a military-oriented one.
"The fact that Germany is significantly rearming and is prepared to allocate enormous resources for remilitarization should concern us. Whenever Germany has rearmed in the past, Muslims and Croats in this region sharpened their knives against the Serbs, so we should not be naïve", Dodik stressed.
He added that one of the goals of the forum is to bring such issues closer to the public.
According to Dodik, the discussion will focus on global political developments and on how Republika Srpska can align its policies to remain stable during turbulent times.
"The key question is how to strengthen Republika Srpska, preserve it and position it within the emerging geopolitical landscape", Dodik pointed out.
