NEVESINJE, NOVEMBER 8 /SRNA/ - Minister of Labor, War Veterans' and Disabled Persons' Protection, Radan Ostojić, said that what is happening to Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, where Orthodox cemeteries are being desecrated, is also happening in the FBiH, adding that the survival of Republika Srpska is therefore of crucial importance to the Serb people.
Ostojić stressed that history had shown how important it was for the Serb people to have institutions capable of protecting their rights.
He added that the same would be happening in Republika Srpska if it did not exist, as the Serb people had experienced genocide, forced displacement, and exoduses throughout history whenever they lacked a state of their own.
Speaking about the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, Ostojić expressed dissatisfaction with the level of protection afforded to them, despite the presence of international forces.
According to him, the pressure faced by the Serb population is aimed at driving them further from the areas where they have lived for centuries.
"Kosovo is, in a way, a protected zone. Foreign forces are stationed there and are supposed to protect the Serbian people, but they are doing nothing of the sort," Ostojić told reporters in Nevesinje.
