SELAK: PRESERVING NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEANS PRESERVING REPUBLIKA SRPSKA’S STATEHOOD

BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 24 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Justice Minister, Goran Selak, says on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the founding of the National Assembly, that preserving this institution is equal to preserving the statehood of Republika Srpska.

“The National Assembly is the highest legislative body and a symbol of the democratic legitimacy of our people. Thirty-four years ago, the members of parliament took a historic step and established the Assembly of the Serb People in BiH. With that act, the foundations of today’s Republika Srpska were laid,” Selak emphasized.

In his SRNA statement, he stressed that the decisions made in the early 1990s were acts of political maturity and national responsibility.

“These were decisions through which our legal system was established. Therefore, it is our duty to preserve what the deputies of the first convocation created, because by defending the National Assembly, we are defending Republika Srpska,” the Minister of Justice emphasized.

Selak reminded that even today, Republika Srpska is facing numerous challenges and pressures, but that its institutions must remain strong and united.

“The National Assembly is a symbol of freedom, perseverance, and unity of our people. Its integrity and authority must remain inviolable, because without it there is neither freedom nor Republika Srpska,” Selak said.
