BIJELJINA, JULY 7 /SRNA/ - On July 8, 2015, Russia blocked the adoption of a British resolution on Srebrenica at the UN Security Council, under which Serbs were to be declared perpetrators of "genocide".

Russia vetoed the resolution, while China, Nigeria, Angola and Venezuela abstained in the vote.

After two days of a power struggle among the major powers at the UN Security Council, Russia cast its veto.

Russia`s Ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, who vetoed the draft British resolution on Srebrenica, said that adopting the document would only lead to increased tensions in the Balkans.
