BIJELJINA, APRIL 28 /SRNA/ – Muslim units, which falsely presented themselves as the Territorial Defence of BiH, blocked all Yugoslav People’s Army /JNA/ barracks in Sarajevo on April 29, 1992.
Even before that date, Muslim paramilitary units, led by the so-called Patriotic League and Green Berets, which were established and armed in 1991, had been firing at barracks and other military property.
At the beginning of May, these forces would commit war crimes during the withdrawal of the JNA from those barracks.
In Dobrovoljačka Street, a convoy was cut off, and military personnel were killed on the spot.
Hundreds of soldiers were tortured in private and public facilities in Sarajevo.
The order to block the barracks and attack the JNA was given by Muslim leader Alija Izetbegović, as evidenced by numerous military documents from that period.
