TRNOVO, OCTOBER 20 /SRNA/ – Slavojka Dragović of Trnovo lost her eldest son, Prvoslav, at Rogoj in 1992, when he was not yet 20. In her testimony, she said Muslim neighbors strangled him with their bare hands and that his father found his body, later dying of grief.
Dragović, Prvoslav's mother, was among the first to give testimony to the Republika Srpska Memorial Centre.
She said she gave birth to her firstborn on September 11, 1972, the Orthodox feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, and that he was killed on July 30, 1992, the feast of St. Marina.
"I held his 40-day memorial on his birthday, September 11," Slavojka said.
Testifying about the crime at Rogoj, Slavojka said her son had been killed by their Muslim neighbors.
According to her testimony, he was strangled with bare hands, and his father found his body. As she described it, there were no bullet wounds or traces of blood on the body.
The loss of her son had a profound impact on the entire family, and she said her husband died of grief over their son, the Republika Srpska Memorial Centre said.
Slavojka Dragović's testimony will be permanently preserved in the Memorial Centre's audiovisual archive, ensuring that the story of Prvoslav and his family's suffering remains documented and accessible to future generations.
"It is our duty to reach every family and every person who can testify to the suffering of the Serb people. We know that behind every name is a life story, and that many memories are kept within families alone. That is why we want to record these stories while we can still hear them firsthand," said Milja Brkić of the Memorial Centre.
