MINIĆ: "WOLVES OF VUČIJAK" – ELITE HEROIC UNIT

PRNJAVOR, JUNE 21 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić stated that the elite and heroic unit “Wolves of Vučijak” made an important contribution to the survival of Serbs in these areas and to the creation of Republika Srpska.

“Together with other units, it wove faith and hope in victory and security for the Serbs of this region,” Minić said at Vučijak near Prnjavor, where the 35th anniversary of the formation of the unit “Wolves of Vučijak,” the first Serb volunteer unit and the First Assault Battalion of the First Krajina Corps of the RSA, was marked today.

He reiterated that the dignity and honour of the soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army and the Republika Srpska Krajina Army, as well as their families, must be restored in a legal and systemic way.

“The soldiers are our pride, and what they achieved, Republika Srpska, is the only thing that guarantees our survival in these areas,” Minić stated.

Darko Mladić, the son of Serb general Ratko Mladić, said that the creation of Republika Srpska was a miracle that proved what Serbs can achieve when they unite and defend themselves.

“My father said that the ‘Wolves’ are a heroic unit and that we must preserve the unity of Republika Srpska,” Darko Mladić conveyed.

Prnjavor Mayor Darko Tomaš said the local community is proud of everything the “Wolves of Vučijak” accomplished during the Defensive-Patriotic War.

Around 1,000 fighters served the first Serb volunteer unit “Wolves of Vučijak,” 43 were killed, and about 200 were wounded.

Before the breakthrough of the corridor, the unit was declared the First Assault Battalion of the First Krajina Corps of the f Republika Srpska Army.

Presidents of Republika Srpska awarded the unit the Order of Miloš Obilić and the Order of the Karađorđe Star of Republika Srpska, First Order.
