OSTOJIĆ: PEACE, FREEDOM AND REPUBLIKA SRPSKA MUST BE CHERISHED

PRNJAVOR, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Labor and Veterans' Affairs Radan Ostojić has said today that peace, freedom and Republika Srpska are the greatest values, stressing that the wartime path of the First Light Prnjavor Infantry Brigade was one along which its members sacrificed themselves for those values.

Ostojić said it was an honor and a pleasure to attend the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the formation of what he described as a renowned wartime unit, as well as the formation of men who had defended their homeland during the war.

He said the unit had emerged from the people and had been commanded by a reserve military officer, adding that it had achieved major successes on every battlefield where it saw combat.

"We are here today to remember the Defensive-Homeland War, and above all our fallen brothers, the people who deserve the greatest credit for the fact that we live today in freedom and in Republika Srpska," Ostojić told reporters at the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the brigade.

He said the "Wolves of Vučijak" unit had operated as part of the brigade as one of the elite wartime units of the Republika Srpska Army.

Ostojić said the wartime path of the First Light Prnjavor Infantry Brigade and each of its members was a path of sacrifice and suffering for Republika Srpska.

"But it was also a path on which great comradeship, unity and solidarity were forged. On that path, a great success was achieved. That success is called freedom, and that success is called Republika Srpska," Ostojić added.

He said he was proud that peace had lasted for 30 years and that the ceremonial formation was taking place in peace and freedom in Republika Srpska.

"Peace, freedom and Republika Srpska - these are the greatest values. Let us pray to God that we continue this tradition of gathering every year for as long as we live, and that our descendants continue it as well, always in peace, freedom and Republika Srpska," Ostojić stressed.
