TREBINJE, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić announced that by the end of the year, visible results will be achieved regarding the consolidation of the situation at the public enterprise “Forests of Republika Srpska" /"Šume Republike Srpske"/.
"Current receivables from contractors and the obligations of `Forests` are favorable. The public enterprise is owed BAM eight million, while it owes contractors BAM four million," Minić said at a press conference in Trebinje.
He emphasized that "Forests" are meeting all obligations toward local communities, as well as tax obligations and repayment schedules.
"Currently, we have over 200,000 cubic meters of timber assortments in stock. Demand is stable, and with measures being implemented, related to the new systematization that the directors of the forestry enterprises are carrying out based on timber quantities, we are quickly moving toward the introduction of incentive-based severance modalities," Minić stated.
He said that this approach will reduce the number of employees while increasing productivity.
"We were fortunate regarding weather conditions. We were able to intensify logging because there was no precipitation and the forest roads were passable. We have achieved 84 percent of the planned output," Minić said.
