BANJA LUKA, JULY 14 /SRNA/ - Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić stated that the University Clinical Centre /UCC/ is operating responsibly, recording a 12 percent increase in the number of patients alongside a BAM 12 million reduction in costs.
"The management here is responsible, and the patient is put first," Minić pointed out at a press conference following a meeting with the acting general director of UCC Nikola Šobot.
Minić stated that UCC has more than 1,200 inpatients and about 5,000 daily check-ups.
"This is the pillar of medical services not only for Republika Srpska but for the region as well," Minić emphasized.
He noted that a third linear accelerator was put into operation at UCC in May, which is something unparalleled in the region when it comes to oncology treatment.
Minić pointed out that the opening of the oncology and hematology facility with palliative care is of exceptional importance, and that there is a plan to resolve the shortage of medical staff for palliative care.
"The Government of Republika Srpska allocates about BAM 92 million annually for the treatment of rare diseases, and UCC is one of the institutions that provides such treatment," said Minić.
He announced that more than 1,000 new parking spaces will be completed at UCC by September.
"Yesterday, the Government transferred a tranche of BAM seven million and approved future credit borrowing," Minić said.
He added that he also reviewed the conceptual design for the construction of a kindergarten within UCC, which will be supported by the Government of Republika Srpska.
After the meeting with the UCC management, the Prime Minister of Srpska visited the complex of this healthcare institution and the parking lot currently under construction.
