MINIĆ PAYS TRIBUTE TO JELIĆ: MAN WHO LEFT DEEP MARK ON OUR SOCIETY

MODRIČA, SEPTEMBER 30 /SRNA/ - Today in Modriča, Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić laid a wreath on the grave of the former President of Republika Srpska Milan Jelić, on the 18th anniversary of his death.

"Today we remember Milan Jelić, the sixth President of Republika Srpska, a man who left a deep mark on our society through his knowledge, work, and genuine sporting spirit," Minić said.

He added that Jelić, as a recognized economist, minister, president, and sports activist, improved Republika Srpska through his work in the economy, politics, and sports, representing it with pride.

"His dedication to sports and education lives on through the foundation that bears his name and through the generations of students and athletes he supported. Eternal glory and gratitude to him," Minić said.

Flowers were also laid by Jelić’s family, and a memorial service was held.

Milan Jelić passed away at the age of 51 from a heart attack on September 30, 2007, in Modriča.

At the time of his death, Jelić held the positions of President of Republika Srpska, Vice President of the SNSD, and President of both the Football Association of Republika Srpska and the Football Association of BiH.

Jelić was a university professor with a doctorate in economics and was also active in sports.

He held the most responsible positions and roles in the economy of Modriča and also served as the Minister of Economy, Energy, and Development of Republika Srpska.

Milan Jelić was the sixth President of Republika Srpska.

Jelić received numerous prestigious awards for his work, including Manager of the Decade in BiH in 2003, the Order for Creativity at the Brussels Innovation Exhibition in 2005, and the Order of Saint Sava.
