ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 8 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said he was pleased to have accepted the role of patron of the BORS patron saint's day celebration alongside his fellow veterans and to give the organization the institutional recognition it deserved, noting that the fighters had preserved Republika Srpska, our sacred homeland.
Minić, who is attending the central celebration of the veterans' patron saint's day in Istočno Novo Sarajevo, stressed that those who had given their lives for Republika Srpska had made an enormous contribution, making it possible for the day to be commemorated in peacetime today.
He noted that many commanders and participants in the Defensive-Patriotic War were present at the event, adding that both the Republika Srpska Veterans' Organization and the Government were working to restore the true dignity of the Republika Srpska Army and its fighters.
"As time goes by, I think we are all becoming aware of the scale of the sacrifice and of how much effort was needed at the time to organize ourselves and preserve Republika Srpska," Minić said.
He stressed that there was also a great responsibility to treat Republika Srpska as something sacred, because that was precisely what it was.
"Only Republika Srpska guarantees the survival of the Serb people in this region," Minić concluded.
