MINIĆ: FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTE IMPORTANT INSTITUTION FOR SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has said today during a visit to the Forensic Medicine Institute that it is an important institution for the justice and healthcare systems in Republika Srpska, carrying out more than 3,000 DNA analyses annually.

Following a meeting with Institute Director Željko Karan, Minić noted that the number of cases handled by the institution has been increasing year after year.

"We discussed many issues, such as staff shortages, the expansion of facilities due to the growing number of cases, as well as amendments to regulations concerning expert witnesses," Minić said.

He said that the amendments to the regulations would be implemented immediately, while other issues would also be addressed.

He praised the Institute’s director, noting that he is one of the few managers who does not have a secretary or a driver.

Karan said that during the meeting with Minić, he presented the problems and difficulties they face in their work.

"There will be understanding and support for our issues, namely staff shortages and some administrative issues. These are issues that can be resolved relatively easily, and we have offered the prime minister a solution," Karan said.
