BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ - Director of the Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics Darko Milunović told SRNA that the population census in BiH is a political issue, whereas in all other countries it is purely a statistical one.

Milunović noted that the last census was held in 2013 and that the next one could be expected in the coming decade.

"The answer to this question depends on other factors that we, as one of the three key statistical institutions in BiH, have no influence over," Milunović said in a podcast of the Media System of Republika Srpska - SRNA.

Speaking about the agricultural census, Milunović pointed out that BiH has not had one since 1960, and that one was supposed to be carried out in the fourth quarter of this year, but has been postponed.

"All countries in the region have had an agricultural census at least once or several times. We haven`t had one for some 66 or 67 years. That census is the basis for all agricultural policies," Milunović stressed.

As for Republika Srpska`s GDP, Milunović believes it is realistic to expect it could reach BAM 20 billion by the end of the year, which would be 50 percent more than five years ago.

The new episode of SRNA`s podcast, featuring Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics Director Darko Milunović, will be available tomorrow at 10 a.m. to users of our service, as well as on social media and the YouTube channel.
