MEETING ON FUTURE COOPERATION IN COMBATING CRIME, CORRUPTION, TERRORISM

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 13 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević proposed modalities for future cooperation with the United States aimed at strengthening the capacities of the Srpska Ministry of Interior /MoI/ in combating transnational organised crime, terrorism, and corruption.

Kostrešević met in Istočno Sarajevo with Mark Tervakoski, Director of the Office for Europe and Asia within the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. They agreed that combating these forms of crime is in their mutual interest.

During the meeting, Kostrešević emphasized that only through partnership can capacities be strengthened in the areas of prevention, investigative activities, and criminal prosecution of such offenses, the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior announced.

He noted that one of the priorities is also strengthening the capacities of the Republika Srpska MoI and other agencies through training, technical support, and procurement of equipment, and that its implementation will be key to improving cooperation.
