SERB LAWMAKERS WIN SEATS ON PRIŠTINA ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – Serb List lawmakers have been elected to all committees of the assembly in Priština. They will now have access to the lawmaking process and the right to take part in it, which they had been denied until now, the Serb List parliamentary group said.

The group said that serving on assembly committees was a right of lawmakers from all parliamentary groups. However, various maneuvers had been used to deny that right to Serb List lawmakers, the legal and legitimate representatives of the Serb people, the group said.

The assembly of the self-proclaimed Kosovo today approved the replacement and reappointment of parliamentary committee members by a vote of 63 in favor, none against and one abstention.

At three earlier sessions, the Self-Determination Movement did not vote to appoint Serb List members to assembly committees. At the last session, the item was withdrawn from the agenda on the grounds that the composition of the parliamentary committees would change, Kosovo Online reported.
