MACUT PRESENTED WITH MUNICIPAL CHARTER

VIŠEGRAD, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut was presented today with the Charter of the Municipality of Višegrad for outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of the local community, as well as for support and cooperation of particular importance to Višegrad.

The charter was presented to Macut at the pedestrian bridge over the Rzav River, which is currently being reconstructed with funding provided by Elektroprivreda Srbije /Electrical Utility Company/.

On the occasion, Višegrad Mayor Mladen Đurević also presented Macut with an icon of the Holy Mother of God.

Addressing the gathering, Macut said that the symbolism of reconstructing the bridge over the Rzav shows that Republika Srpska and Serbia are connected in every way.

"The Drina is the backbone that connects a people divided by this river. The Drina physically separates us, while bridges bring us together," Macut said.

He added that he was honored to be the recipient of the Charter of the Municipality of Višegrad and that he would continue building bridges between peoples and states.

Đurević said that this bridge was an example of the ties between Serbia and Republika Srpska, which are being reaffirmed through concrete actions.

"This project demonstrates the good cooperation between Serbia and Republika Srpska," Đurević said, expressing gratitude to the Government of Serbia, Prime Minister Macut, Elektroprivreda Srbije and everyone involved in implementing the project.
