EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 30 /SRNA/ - The key difference between us and the opposition is that we do not allow Bosniaks to decide which Serbs hold power, said Radovan Kovačević, Serb deputy in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
Kovačević posted his response on X to the opposition's claim that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska did not elect the current representatives of Srpska to hold power and that they can no longer remain in power because others - meaning Bosniaks - do not want them to.
He also posted a video clip from yesterday's session of the House of Peoples, in which he explained to Želimir Nešković /SDS/ and Nenad Vuković /PDP/ the key difference between the government and the opposition.
"You say that the National Assembly didn't elect us to be in power. As far as I know, assemblies decide by majority who governs, and the National Assembly of Republika Srpska decided that we are the majority. I believe that should send a message."
"Then you go on to say `these other people don't want you in power anymore`. And that is precisely the essence of the issue - we are fighting against the idea that some other people, no matter how kind or pleasant, get to decide who will govern on behalf of the Serbs or Croats."
"We are principled on this, consistent, and we constantly insist on it. Finally, you reminded me of a beautiful French chanson originally by Alain Delon and Dalida, later covered here by Massimo Savić and the band Rivers, which goes: `Paroles, paroles...`"
"And that's exactly what it sounds like when you address, but in the end, you've rewritten it into `Seats, seats...,` because that's all you're fighting for, and that's why you don't have the people's support. That can always be awkward, so I'd kindly ask you to give it up," Kovačević told the SDS and PDP deputies in the House of Peoples.
