BANJA LUKA, JULY 9 /SRNA/ - The Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has educated nearly 4,000 young individuals throughout a quarter-century, and today, it is an honor to be a police officer, whose strength lies not in the uniform, but in the integrity with which they wear it, stated Minister Siniša Karan.
At the Training Center in Zalužani near Banja Luka, during the contract signing ceremony, Karan said that the cadets of the 28th class of the Police Academy earned their place through prior effort, general knowledge, and academic success.
"And today, I am especially pleased that this significant number includes our dear colleagues from the Brčko District. This is not the first time our Police Academy has trained cadets for the needs of the Brčko District Police. But with forty-three of you, this is the largest group within a single class so far," emphasized Karan.
He stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MIA/ of Republika Srpska does this with great satisfaction and that he is honored that the colleagues from the Brčko District chose the Police Academy.
"We will continue to do so in the future whenever there is a need. And all your predecessors will tell you one thing - it is a noble and honorable thing to be a police officer!" Karan emphasized.
Karan also pointed out that the role of a police officer is far from easy - it requires many sacrifices and demands diligence, responsibility, seriousness, and the courage to protect oneself, fellow citizens, the people, and the country.
According to him, the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has provided everything necessary for cadets to become well-trained, with an instructional staff that possesses extensive experience in various police duties, especially in training future police personnel.
"Well-equipped and functional classrooms for instruction, a dormitory for your comfortable accommodation and stay during training, outdoor facilities for sports activities and exercises, as well as spaces for relaxation and socializing, all of this is provided. It is up to you to show effort, dedication, and discipline, to absorb knowledge and strive to meet our expectations, as well as those of your parents and society as a whole," said Karan.
The minister emphasized that cadets must become exemplary members of society, ready to stand up against all forms of violence, abusive behavior, and crime, because citizens will look to them for protection and safety.
"And don't forget - the strength of a police officer does not lie in the uniform they wear, but in the integrity with which they represent that uniform! Strength lies in knowledge, in understanding people, in composure under pressure, and in determination when it is most needed," Karan stated.
He added that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska to maintain the continuity of renewing its personnel in order to keep pace with the times, modern trends, and evolving needs.
Karan says that all other aspects of police work will continue to be improved — equipment will be upgraded, new facilities will be built, and the legal and material status of all members of the MIA will be enhanced.
"In conclusion, I wish you to be disciplined, diligent, and successful in mastering the curriculum. May you feel here as comfortable as you would at home. I am confident that the skills you will acquire here, as well as the friendships you will build with your fellow cadets, will last a lifetime. That is the greatest value of your time here - collegiality, loyalty, and unity!" Karan emphasized.
He wished the cadets and their instructors much success.
"And may we gather here again in the same number in ten months for the graduation ceremony of this class and the solemn oath-taking! Cheers!" Karan emphasized.
Contracts were signed today at the Training Center in Zalužani with the cadets of the 28th class of the Police Academy.
