JOINT DECLARATION ADOPTED CALLING FOR RESPECT OF DAYTON AGREEMENT

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 18 /SRNA/ – Members of the Parliamentary Forum of Serbia and Republika Srpska today called for respect of the Dayton Agreement, which defines the rights of peoples and entities without whose consent decisions cannot be made, as well as the rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, whose freedom and identity are threatened by unilateral acts of the provisional institutions accompanied by violence that also threatens their physical survival.

In the joint declaration following the third joint session of the Parliamentary Forum, a call was made for the preservation of peace and stability in the region, and it was reaffirmed that cooperation and internal agreement are the preferred means of resolving disagreements and disputes, in accordance with international public law as established by the UN Charter.

Members of the Parliamentary Forum, while respecting the right to freely express will and opinion, condemn any attempt to make decisions outside of legal institutions and legitimately elected bodies.

"We reject orchestrated activities aimed at provoking division and conflict through the creation of quasi-institutions and bodies, by abusing the right to peaceful assembly, or through international interventionism that undermines the sovereignty of states and peoples," the declaration emphasizes.

The Parliamentary Forum of Serbia and Republika Srpska will continue its work based on the principles of equality protection as prescribed by international public law, it was announced by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

The Parliamentary Forum is composed of 11 members each from the delegations of Republika Srpska and Serbia.

The third session of the Forum was held today in Banja Luka.
