INVESTIGATION INTO MILIČEVIĆ AND OTHERS FOR BRIBERY AND INFLUENCE PEDDLING

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 9 /SRNA/ – The Special Department of the Republika Srpska Public Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption, Organized and the Most Severe Forms of Economic Crime is conducting an investigation against Milan Miličević, Mehmed Dubravac, and Mešo Jašarević on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of accepting bribes and influence peddling, the Prosecutor's Office confirmed to SRNA.

As part of this investigation, the Criminal Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOI) of Republika Srpska is conducting searches at multiple locations linked to the suspects, based on an order from the Banja Luka District Court’s Special Department. The aim is to find evidence related to these criminal offenses, as well as cash originating from these crimes.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, during the searches so far, around BAM 400,000 has been found at the residence of the individual with the initials M.M., and approximately BAM 50,000 at the location connected to M.D.

Searches at all locations are still ongoing, and the total amount of money found in various currencies, as well as other relevant evidence, will be known upon completion.

In the course of the investigation so far, a total of BAM 90,000 has been seized from the suspects. This money was allegedly used to buy municipal assembly members in Teslić, with the goal of abusing electoral mandates, shifting the assembly majority, and securing votes at the instruction of the suspects.

The Prosecutor's Office is continuing the investigation, including further searches and investigative activities, in order to find more evidence and to locate the remaining BAM 250,000 KM that was allegedly handed to suspect M.J. and has yet to be found.

The Prosecutor's Office is also calling on all citizens who have been victims of corruption by public officials to report such incidents - particularly any information related to the buying of assembly members - in order to obtain new evidence and possibly identify additional suspects, and to prevent the manipulation of electoral mandates and subversion of the democratic will of the people.
