MRKONJIĆ GRAD, OCTOBER 10 /SRNA/ – Isidora Graorac, Head of the Republika Srpska Organisation of Families of Captured, Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians, has said today in Mrkonjić Grad that, unfortunately, judicial practice in BiH is such that the families of Serb victims of the recent war have still not received justice and that those responsible for the crimes have not been held accountable.

At the commemoration marking the 31st anniversary of crimes committed against more than 2,000 Serbs from the western Krajina municipalities by Croatian and Muslim forces, Graorac stressed the importance of ensuring that the Serb people remembers, commemorates, and documents all crimes, as this is the only way to prevent anything similar from happening again.

"October 10 is one of the most difficult days for the residents of Mrkonjić Grad and the surrounding municipalities because they experienced ethnic cleansing during those days. We are standing at the site where the remains of 181 soldiers and civilians were found, for whose families, this is one of the most difficult days," Graorac said.

Mrkonjić Grad is commemorating the 31st anniversary of crimes committed against more than 2,000 Serbs from the western Krajina municipalities by Croatian and Muslim forces.

Those attending the commemoration are Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić; representatives of the Ministry of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons Protection; representatives of the Government of Serbia; municipal mayor Dragan Vođević; representatives of the Third Infantry /Republika Srpska/ Regiment; representatives of municipalities and cities; organisations stemming from the Defensive-Patriotic War; members of the Republika Srpska National Assembly; representatives of Republika Srpska in the joint institutions of BiH and the families of the killed.

During the agrassion against 13 municipalities in western Krajina, the armed forces of Croatia, the Croatian Defence Council /HVO/, and the so-called Army of BiH expelled 120,000 Serbs from their centuries-old homes.

Among the 2,214 people killed were 753 Serb civilians, 149 of whom are listed as missing, as well as 1,461 members of the Republika Srpska Army, 79 of whom are still listed as missing.
