GENERAL ELECTRIC REPRESENTATIVES VISIT ORAO, POSSIBLE COOPERATION DISCUSSED

BIJELJINA, JULY 24 /SRNA/ - The Bijeljina-based company Orao received a high assessment of its available capacities during a visit by representatives of the US multinational company General Electric, who came to evaluate the possibility of the company becoming their subcontractor.

"They came to assess our capabilities and engage us in the future as their subcontractor. We can say that cooperation is on the horizon, because Orao received the highest rating, which is rare among companies," said Dubravka Banjac, head of the Electrochemical Protection Sector.

Banjac explained that they are primarily interested in electrochemical protection processes, specifically hard chrome plating, cadmium plating and silver plating.

She said that General Electric has six companies in Europe, and that Orao was visited by representatives from Prague and Turin, the company said in a statement.

She added that representatives of General Electric will prepare a report and submit it to their management, after which she expects a contract to be signed for carrying out some of the electrochemical protection processes.

Orao Director Marko Mrkajić stressed that this visit and the possibility of establishing cooperation show that Orao is the only company in this part of Europe that possesses specific technologies and trained personnel capable of meeting any requirement in the field of the defense industry and civil aviation.

"Although the core activity of Orao is the overhaul of aircraft engines and the production of parts for turbojet engines, our electrochemical protection sector is equipped to perform more than 15 specialised processes, some of which are unique in Europe and the world," Mrkajić said.

According to him, Orao is already working for Pratt & Whitney, and they hope to soon sign contracts with General Electric, as well as other companies that are increasingly contacting them as external clients.

The company Orao was founded in 1944 and has gone through all stages in the development of its core activity - aircraft engine overhaul. Today, it is a highly organised system equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and strong human resources for the production and overhaul of all types of turbojet engines.
