TREBINJE, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ – The Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje is today hosting the conference titled "Echoes of Heritage and the Future of Museum," bringing together 150 prominent museum professionals and presenting more than 30 nominees for this year’s award for the best museum and cultural heritage institution in Slavic countries.

Sarita Vujković, Director of the Republika Srpska Museum of Contemporary Art, emphasized the importance of this event and the fact that Republika Srpska is hosting it for the first time.

She has stated that the goal of the event is to foster connection and collaboration among museum professionals, rather than to encourage competition between museums.

"150 participants oblige us to present Trebinje in a special and dignified way, as the cultural city of Republika Srpska," Vujković told the press.

Ivana Grujić, Director of the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje, says it is an honour to host such a large number of experts and noted the significance of the event being held in Republika Srpska for the first time.

"Museology in our country is on a European level. This is also an opportunity for those who have heard of our museum to experience first-hand its rich cultural-historical and natural heritage," said Grujić.

Andreja Rihter, Director of the International Forum of Slavic Cultures, noted that the participation of more than 150 attendees is the highest number so far.

The organisers of this unique event are the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the City of Trebinje, in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska, the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje, and the European Museum Academy. The event is held under the patronage of the Office of Republika Srpska President and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska.

The main event will be the official awards ceremony, which will take place tomorrow at 7:00 PM at the Trebinje Cultural Centre to be attended by numerous figures from public and cultural life, ambassadors, representatives of cultural institutions, and museum professionals from Slavic countries.

The Živa Award was established in 2014 by the Forum of Slavic Cultures, aiming to recognise the best achievements and most innovative practices in the field of museology.
