BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 11 /SRNA/ - SNSD President Milorad Dodik met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Igor Kalabuhov to discuss bilateral relations, and it was confirmed during the meeting that the relationship with the Russian Federation remains stable, at the level of strategic ties in all areas, and that the development of relations in cultural, economic, and other fields will continue with the same intensity.
"We agreed that the `Year of Dayton` should be commemorated, and I also thanked the ambassador and the Russian Federation for the large number of experts working on Dayton Agreement issues and their participation in the working panels we are organizing these days," Dodik emphasized.
He also stated in a post on X that a joint position was confirmed, indicating that the Dayton Agreement serves as a framework for a solution.
"We pointed out the violations of the Dayton Agreement, that this situation is unsustainable, and that a return to the original principles of the Dayton Agreement is necessary if BiH is to be viable and willing to remain so," said the SNSD leader.
Regarding the Russian side, he added that they remain fundamentally committed to Dayton values, the territorial integrity of BiH, and peace and stability.
"We share the same concern for peace and stability, and everything we do is aimed at ensuring peace," Dodik emphasized.
The SNSD leader informed Ambassador Kalabuhov that the hysteria displayed by Bosniaks in previous years, in terms of invoking war, was motivated by their need to provoke, which was avoided, and that their narrative was completely nullified.
"This was an opportunity to once again confirm to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation that Republika Srpska neither considers, desires, nor intends to pursue NATO membership, and that publicly irresponsible statements have been politically motivated. Our policy remains the same," Dodik stated.
"We appreciate NATO's position that any accession requires a decision by BiH's institutions, and we will not participate in that decision. This means it is therefore not possible. Republika Srpska does not change its basic positions, both regarding NATO and our strategic cooperation," Dodik emphasized.
