BANJA LUKA, JUNE 30 /SRNA/ – SNSD deputies in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will support the veto invoked by the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović against an unconstitutional attempt to appoint members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said.
"I believe deputies from other parties will also stand in defense of our national identity and heritage. I expect all representatives from Republika Srpska in the Parliamentary Assembly to take a clear position on this issue," Dodik wrote on X.
According to Dodik, the matter concerns what he described as an attempt by Denis Bećirović, the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, to act unilaterally and impose decisions.
"SNSD will once again show him that he cannot do that. Agreement within the framework of the Constitution is possible; dictates are not. The Serb people have a proud history and a rich cultural heritage worth preserving and protecting. We will demonstrate that in the National Assembly," Dodik stressed.
The Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović stated the National Assembly of Republika Srpska would have the final say on the decision to appoint members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, which she declared destructive to the vital national interest of Republika Srpska after it was adopted yesterday at a Presidency session held without a quorum.
Cvijanović said Denis Bećirović, who proposed the decision, acted unlawfully and that constitutional and procedural rules were violated on several occasions during the Presidency session.
