BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik said Glođansko Brdo was an eternal warning and a place where people had defended their families, their homes, Podrinje and Republika Srpska.
"People stood in that place and defied death to defend their loved ones, but also future generations, who must never forget their sacrifice for freedom and for Republika Srpska," Dodik told SRNA. Tomorrow marks 34 years since 126 members of the Army of Republika Srpska were brutally killed on November 6, 1992, by members of the so-called Army of BiH led by Naser Orić.
Dodik said the killing of 126 Army of Republika Srpska soldiers on Glođansko Brdo was another of the deep wounds of the Podrinje region. He added that the number of Serb soldiers killed was not just a statistic, but part of recent Serbian history and of the broader suffering of the Serb people.
He said Glođansko Brdo was not just a spot on a map. It was a monument to the suffering of the Serbs of Podrinje, one more place where the ground stood silent under the weight of pain and bore witness to the shameful atrocity committed by Muslim criminals led by Naser Orić.
"It is the place where 126 Serb knights laid down what is most sacred, their lives, on the altar of their homeland, Republika Srpska. Their sacrifice is the foundation of our freedom, a legacy that reminds us that we stayed and survived thanks to people who knew no fear, only loyalty to the Serb people," Dodik said.
Dodik said there was a duty to speak their names with the deepest respect and to pass on to future generations the story of their priceless courage. He said Glođansko Brdo should remember its heroes forever and their names should be a source of pride. They had not left us, he said, but had gone to stand eternal guard over Serbian history, reminding us who we were and showing us how a homeland was defended.
"So glory and gratitude to the immortal heroes of Glođansko Brdo, while those who sit in the so-called judicial institutions of BiH will forever bear the stain of complicity, both in this and in many other crimes against Serbs committed by Muslims, members of the so-called Army of BiH," Dodik said.
He added that the crime on Glođansko Brdo, committed mostly by Muslims from Srebrenica, was another example of how, in BiH as it stands and with the prosecutors and courts it has, no one is named or held accountable for crimes against Serbs. More than three decades on, the crime remains unpunished, he said.
Members of the Šekovići and Zvornik brigades of the Army of Republika Srpska were treacherously killed on Glođansko Brdo at dawn on November 6, 1992. No one has yet been held accountable for the crime.
A memorial plaque reading "126 Army of Republika Srpska soldiers were killed here" has been put up at the site several times, but unknown persons have smashed it each time.
