ISTOČNA ILIDŽA, APRIL 6 /SRNA/ - The President of the SNSD Municipal Board in Istočna Ilidža Nebojša Šešlija told SRNA that the burning of the Serbian tricolor in the Dobrinja neighborhood, located along the inter-entity boundary line, is unacceptable and must receive a clear response, stressing that a sense of insecurity among Serbs must not become a daily occurrence.
Šešlija pointed out that this is not an isolated incident, but part of a pattern of events that seriously undermine citizens' security.
He said this is the moment when everyone must take a stand and clearly state that people's safety is the top priority.
Šešlija called on Istočna Ilidža Mayor Marinko Božović to urgently convene a special session of the Municipal Assembly, with the sole topic being the security situation and concrete measures to be taken.
"This is not the first time we have had incidents - we have witnessed attacks, provocations, and even attempts at physical confrontations involving our children simply because they wear symbols of the clubs they support, which are not liked by our neighbors. This is unacceptable and must be met with a clear response," Šešlija said categorically.
He emphasized that the citizens of Istočna Ilidža have the right to feel safe.
"I am asking a clear question - what will the mayor do? It is time for concrete steps, because a sense of insecurity among Serbs in Istočna Ilidža must not become an everyday reality," Šešlija said.
A photo has been posted on social media which, according to the accompanying claims, shows a burned Serbian tricolor in the Dobrinja area of Istočno Sarajevo.
The area lies along the inter-entity boundary line, which gives such incidents additional sensitivity in the public sphere.
There is currently no official information from the police regarding the incident, nor is it known exactly when it occurred. The identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the act also remain unknown.
