BRANKOVIĆ: DODIK'S VISIT TO MOSCOW CONFIRMED THAT SRPSKA HAS RUSSIA’S FULL SUPPORT

BELGRADE, MAY 30 /SRNA/ - Former diplomat and Serbia's ambassador to the UN Branko Branković told SRNA that the participation of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik in the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow, along with his meetings during the event, confirms that Srpska can count on the full support of Russia.

Commenting on the message heard during Dodik's visit to Moscow that Srpska is a strategic partner of Russia, Branković said this affirms Russia’s commitment to supporting Srpska and its efforts to defend its national interests.

Branković has emphasized that this clearly shows Russia understands and is aware of the broader international situation, particularly what has long been happening internationally against Serbs and Orthodox Christians.

"The fact that the Dayton Peace Agreement is not being respected by those who once signed it is unfortunate, but the truth is that Srpska exists because of the Dayton so no one can undo that," Branković said.

He has noted that many are disturbed by Srpska's insistence on being treated in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.

According to him, respecting the Dayton framework is a national interest of Republika Srpska, what Russia understands and supports.

"Russia is a country that is Orthodox and respects itself and its national interests. It's logical that a great power like Russia understands what Srpska and Serbia represent and want in their fight for national and state interests. That is why they offer full support to both Srpska and Serbia," Branković explained.

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik took part between May 27 and 29 in the International Conference of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow, which brought together 126 delegations from 106 countries.

During the forum, Dodik met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, who reiterated that Russia supports Republika Srpska and is focused on maximum cooperation based on the Dayton Accords principles.
