BOSNIĆ: RESOLUTION CONDEMNING NDH GLORIFICATION - ENCOURAGEMENT IN COMBATING REHABILITATION OF USTASHA IDEOLOGY

BELGRADE, MARCH 18 /SRNA/ – The Republika Srpska National Assembly's Resolution condemning and banning the promotion and glorification of the symbols and ideology of the NDH represents an encouraging step in combating rehabilitation of Ustasha ideology, Mile Bosnić, head of the Krajina Serbs Movement, told SRNA.

Bosnić emphasized that the adoption of the Resolution, as well as the unity of Republika Srpska-based political parties in passing it, is a pleasant surprise amid a wave of negativity and the rise of historical revisionism and relativization coming from Croatia that are appearing in BiH, too.

“Croatia is not only relativizing Ustasha ideology, the ideology of the NDH and its symbols, but is placing them on a pedestal of desirability, even promoting them as some kind of heroic past,” Bosnić stated.

He believes it is also important that the Resolution is about the protection of victims of genocide in the NDH, noting that monuments in the shape of the Ustasha letter "U" and similar unacceptable symbols represent a mockery of the victims.

"In the territory of present-day Republika Srpska, the NDH committed horrific crimes during World War II. Therefore, the adoption of a Resolution condemning and banning the glorification of Ustasha symbols and ideology is a normal, realistic, and encouraging move, as well as a guideline for Serbia on what it should do regarding this issue," Bosnić stressed.

He also considers it significant that the Resolution mentions the surroundings of Republika Srpska where the NDH and Ustasha are glorified, clearly referring to Croatia and parts of the FBiH.

"Croatia is leading in this, especially over the past year and a half, when what they are doing in promoting Ustashism has become unbearable. It is unprecedented audacity that this is happening in a EU member state, which claims to be founded on antifascism," Bosnić underlined.

Yesterday, the Republika Srpska National Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution proposed by the parliamentary majority, condemning and considering ideological relativization and the revival of the NDH ideologyt unacceptable, as well as the denial and minimization of the genocide against Serbs.
