KOZARSKA DUBICA, OCTOBER 24 /SRNA/ - The president of the Serb People's Party, Darko Banjac, congratulated all current and former members of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, employees of the institution, and everyone who had contributed to its development through their work and dedication on the 35th anniversary of the Assembly's establishment and work.
"The 35th anniversary of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is a significant milestone and an opportunity to reflect on the historical path of our institution, all the challenges it has faced, and the decisions that have shaped the political and institutional development of Republika Srpska," Banjac told reporters.
He emphasized that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is not merely a legislative body; it is also a place where decisions of particular importance to the Serb people are made, the institutions of Republika Srpska are safeguarded, and the will of citizens is expressed. These citizens expect responsibility, seriousness, and dedication from those to whom they have entrusted their votes.
He added that, having served four terms as a member of parliament, he had the honor and duty of being part of this institution and participating directly in its work.
"That is why I particularly understand the importance of the National Assembly, its historical role, and the responsibility we all bear toward Republika Srpska and its citizens," Banjac said, adding that special tribute should be paid today to the members of the first Assembly, who assumed responsibility under complex historical circumstances and laid the foundations for parliamentary life in Republika Srpska.
Banjac emphasized that this year’s commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska carries special significance because the milestone is being marked in Pale, a place that holds a special position in the history of Republika Srpska’s establishment and institutional development.
"Pale was one of the key centers of political and institutional life in Republika Srpska during its most difficult and challenging years, which is why marking this important anniversary here carries special historical and symbolic significance," Banjac concluded.
The NPS leader said it was therefore important to mark this anniversary with dignity, showing respect for the past, an awareness of the responsibilities of the present, and a commitment to leaving future generations stable institutions and a peaceful future.
