EAST SARAJEVO, APRIL 5 /SRNA/ - The presidencies of the DNS and NPS, two parties acting as a single group, gave their absolute support today at a joint session in East Sarajevo to the policies pursued by the leadership of Republika Srpska - especially in the fight to preserve constitutional jurisdictions and the fundamental principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement, said NPS President Darko Banjac.

"Today, we held the first joint presidency session of the DNS and NPS in line with the agreement we signed. I’m glad we’re here in East Sarajevo, the hometown of DNS president Nenad Nešić, whom we support in his fight for justice. I hope, and I’m convinced, that after May 20 we will together visit all our municipal and city committees across Republika Srpska," Banjac said.

He emphasized that the two parties, which will operate as a strong coalition, are actively participating in the policies pursued by the leadership of Republika Srpska, especially in the fight to preserve its constitutional jurisdictions and on its path to preserve the fundamental principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

"In the coming period, we will do everything we can to ensure that our city and municipal committees and their leaderships hold joint meetings, so we can prepare for a tour by the leadership of both parties, headed by Nenad Nešić and the NPS leadership. The goal is to promote the unity of these two parties through a strong and solid coalition, in order to prepare as best as possible for the challenges we will face in the coming months," Banjac told reporters.

Banjac says that this political group is the second strongest within the ruling coalition and the third strongest in Republika Srpska, emphasizing that the NPS and DNS bear political responsibility to deal with the challenges currently facing Republika Srpska.

“We will act responsibly in preserving the jurisdictions and direction of Republika Srpska toward safeguarding the fundamental principles of our people’s survival in this region. I know it won’t be an easy fight, but we are committed to protecting the core principles of the Dayton Agreement and, above all, preserving the institutions of Republika Srpska,” Banjac said.

He says that while many talk about unity, it is DNS and NPS who are actively promoting it and are ready to enter the political fight together with clear political goals.

"Both parties have clearly defined national and patriotic goals in their programs, along with a vision of a strong Republika Srpska," Banjac added.

He expressed hope that many of the "hotheads in the Federation of BiH" will cool down and show readiness to come to the table in order to preserve what was signed in Dayton.

"There's always another way, but we won't be the only ones deciding on that," Banjac said.

The secretary general of the DNS, Velimir Vezmar, says that, in line with the signed coalition agreement, a joint session of the presidencies of the DNS and NPS was held to discuss the current situation in Republika Srpska and BiH.

"We have given our full support to the legal battle of DNS President Nenad Nešić, strengthening the organization, and preparing the party for the 2026 elections. The DNS leadership has, over the past month and a half, visited all regional committees in nine electoral units, where all the presidents of municipal and city organizations and all elected councilors, a total of 73, were present," Vezmar said.

He added that the position is absolutely clear: consistency and principles in the politics of the DNS, as well as strengthening the organization and creating local branches where they don’t exist, will remain priorities in the upcoming period.

"Together, the DNS and NPS, with a total of 130 councilors, represent the third political force in Republika Srpska. In the coming period, we need to strengthen the organizations so that we can expect better electoral results in the 2026 elections, not only for the Republika Srpska National Assembly but also for the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH," Vezmar said.

According to the secretary general of the DNS, more joint sessions of the presidencies of these parties will be held in the coming period, which represents a sign of mutual trust and respect.
