BANJA LUKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ - The ban on exporting chicken meat from BiH to the EU will be lifted on June 30, Assistant Minister for Veterinary Medicine of Republika Srpska Negoslav Lukić told SRNA.

Lukić reminded that the ban lasted four months, since avian influenza was detected in the municipality of Petrovo.

"Lifting the ban on chicken meat exports is of great importance for domestic producers," Lukić said.

Avian influenza was reported in the municipality of Petrovo in February. The surveillance zones were lifted in early April, and since then, there has been an expectation for the resumption of chicken meat exports to the EU market.

Poultry farming is the only branch of livestock production in BiH that has a surplus in foreign trade.
