EAST SARAJEVO, MARCH 31 /SRNA/ - East Sarajevo Mayor Ljubiša Ćosić said that the physical attack on high school students from Novi Sad in Sarajevo is another confirmation of continued hostility towards everything with Serb prefix in that city, which falsely presents itself as multi-ethnic and open.
"I understand that as peoples we were involved in a conflict and that we suffered a lot, but it is incomprehensible to me that 30 years after that, young generations, who had nothing to do with it, nor were they born then, develop a feeling of hatred, the result of which is that minors beat their peers with sticks or rods," Ćosić told SRNA.
He has assessed that this act of vandalism, as well as what followed in the media and the public, once again exposed the true face of the city, which falsely presents itself as multi-ethnic and open.
"I am especially irritated and appalled by the reactions from the FBiH, both the media and part of the public, as well as some politicians who, in the manner of the worst hypocrisy, try to present this brutal attack as an isolated incident," Ćosić said.
According to him, multi-ethnic Sarajevo theory, a city that accepts diversity, are mere lies and only serve to smear the eyes of people from outside and those who do not know them.
It is true, says Ćosić, that Sarajevo is a city that was built and developed by Serbs, but from the nineties of the last century until today, unfortunately, Serbs are treated as undesirable elements, as something that should be gotten rid of in every possible way.
"This attack is a direct consequence of such an atmosphere of intolerance and hatred that is constantly heating up in that city, which long ago sold the soul it once had to the devil," Ćosić said.
High school students from Novi Sad, including a girl, were attacked with baseball bats in Sarajevo on Saturday evening.
