AS OF TODAY, ETERNAL FLAME FROM THE KREMLIN IS AT NEW ZEYTINLIK

SOKOLAC, MAY 9 /SRNA/ - Sokolac Mayor Strahinja Bašević received today at New Zeytinlik a piece of the Eternal Flame from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin, handed over by academic Andrei Prodeus from the delegation of the People's Front, which is led by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Prodeus expressed his satisfaction at being in Sokolac and, together with the Serbian people, commemorating the great victory over fascism and Nazism, in which, 80 years ago, our ancestors liberated the land from the "black plague".

"The ties between the Serbian and Russian peoples will strengthen every day, especially in the difficult times ahead, considering that neo-fascism and neo-Nazism are raising their heads," said Prodeus.

Bašević said that it is an honor for him to receive, on behalf of the people of Republika Srpska and the municipality of Sokolac, a piece of the Eternal Flame from the holiest place for the Russian people, with which the patriotic campaign is spreading worldwide.

"The flame of light that was lit today will burn permanently at our sacred site, New Zeytinlik, reminding us of all the fallen Russian and Serbian soldiers in the fight against Nazism and fascism," Bašević told reporters at New Zeytinlik.

Representatives of the People's Front from Russia also presented lanterns with the Eternal Flame to Milivoje Janković, a representative of the Sokolac branch of SUBNOR, and Milan Stanišić, a representative of the Association of Military War Invalids of the Sokolac municipality.

Representatives of the People's Front presented certificates of gratitude to retired Colonel of the Republika Srpska Army Milan Jolović, Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia and Mayor Bašević for their cooperation in nurturing the ties between the Serbian and Russian peoples.
