BELGRADE, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ - Director Lordan Zafranović, a leading figure of Yugoslav and world cinema, has received the international Planetary Tesla Award for his overall body of work, with special emphasis on his latest film "Golden Cut 42: Children of Kozara".
Vlado Markanović, director of Media Invent and the initiator of the project, told SRNA that the award recognizes Zafranović as an outstanding artistic visionary who, like Tesla in science, has uncompromisingly devoted his emotional and creative gifts to humanity.
He said Zafranović does not allow the darkness of oblivion to conceal the deepest wounds of the past, but instead uses film with surgical precision to awaken humanity's collective consciousness.
"By confronting us with the most difficult historical ordeals, he does not call for division, but through respect for differences and the defense of every victim, he lays the foundations for genuine and lasting peace among people," Markanović said, quoting from the award citation.
Information on the other recipients will be announced in the coming days.
The Planetary Tesla Award ceremony will be held in Belgrade on November 10, World Science Day, at 8:00 p.m. at Atelje 212.
The international Planetary Tesla Award is a prestigious honor presented since 2023 by the Tesla Science Academy to individuals and institutions for outstanding achievements in science, art, education, economics, medicine and social creativity.
