BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 18 /SRNA/ - The results of the autopsy of the body of General Ratko Mladić, conducted at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, are awaited, after which the documentation will be analyzed and the Mechanism’s options for further action examined, Serbian Justice Minister Nenad Vujić said.

"We have a prison and a hospital on the territory of the Netherlands, but there are also UN regulations, so we will see who applied what. These issues must be raised," Vujić said.

Vujić recalled that a regular session of the UN Security Council will be held in December, which he will attend in his capacity as Chairman of the Council for Cooperation with the Mechanism, and where he will present his observations and raise certain questions.

Asked by reporters in Banja Luka to comment on statements by Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković concerning General Mladić and the treatment of diplomats from Serbia, Vujić stressed that Serbia had not interfered in judicial proceedings, but had pointed to the need to respect basic human rights and dignity.

"At no point did the institutions of Serbia demand that the verdict against General Ratko Mladić be overturned, nor did they deny it. Rather, they insisted on respect for his human dignity and the wishes of his family. With a person's death, the sentence comes to an end, but human dignity and respect for human dignity do not," Vujić said.

General Ratko Mladić died on August 27 in a detention hospital in The Hague and was buried in Belgrade on September 7.
