VUČIĆ: STATE DID EVERYTHING TO ENSURE A DIGNIFIED FUNERAL

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA/ - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the Serbian state had done everything necessary and possible to ensure that General Ratko Mladić's funeral would be conducted with dignity.

When asked whether he would attend General Mladić's funeral, Vučić told reporters in Palić that he would be hosting the President of Uzbekistan all day on Monday and Tuesday, a visit that had been scheduled four months ago.

"Have I done everything necessary and possible to ensure that it proceeds in a dignified manner? That is exactly what I have done. That is all I can tell you," Vučić said.

He said that he had spoken with the Mladić family and that the state had respected their choice regarding what they wanted to do and how they wanted to organize the funeral.

General Ratko Mladić died at the detention hospital in The Hague on August 27 and will be buried on Monday, September 7, at Topčider Cemetery in Belgrade.
